The program is designed for the Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents who wish to sponsor a family member or close relative. In addition, a commitment to undertake the financial support is required by the way of Sponsorship agreement, the sponsor must demonstrate the financial ability to meet the essential needs of the Family Sponsorship Immigrant over a prescribed period, the sponsor cannot be subject to a removal order, detained in prison, or in default of any previous sponsorship undertaking or payment obligation ordered by the court. Finally, a sponsor cannot have declared bankruptcy or be in receipt of social assistance, other than for reason of disability. Regarding criminal convictions, a sponsor will not be eligible if they have been convicted of any serious offence. In general, the sponsor must be residing in Canada to make a sponsorship application. However, a Canadian citizen is able to sponsor their spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, or dependent child while living abroad if the sponsor will live in Canada when the sponsored individual becomes a Canadian Permanent Resident.

This program allows you to sponsor spouse, partner and children.
You fulfil the eligibility criteria if you are:
1. At least 18 years old.
2. A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
3. Able to support them financially.
4. Able to prove that you’re not receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability.
For this process, you should send the following two applications together at the same time:
• Apply for becoming a sponsor
• Your spouse, partner or child should apply for permanent residence
• Sponsoring the parents and grandparents
This program allows you to sponsor parents and grandparents. You can sponsor more than one person if you have enough income to meet the financial needs of all the sponsored people.
You fulfil the eligibility criteria if you are:
1. At least 18 years old.
2. A Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
3. Have enough income to be able to support the sponsored persons.
For this process, you should send the following two applications together at the same time:
• Apply for becoming a sponsor
• Your parents or grandparents should apply for permanent residence
• Super visa (for parents and grandparents)
A super visa lets you visit your children or grandchildren for up to 5 years at a time. It’s a visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years. When you enter Canada, a border services officer will confirm how long you can stay.
You fulfil the eligibility criteria if you:
1. are the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
2. have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company
3. have a signed letter from your child or grandchild
The signed letter should provide the number of people in the household and must include a copy of the Canadian citizenship or permanent resident document of the person inviting. It should also include the promise of financial support for the person invited.
