Express Entry is an application process for skilled immigrants who are eligible and willing to settle in Canada Permanently and taking part in the growing economy. This is an online application process involving both federal and provincial governments, as well as Canadian employers. With Express Entry, Canada is committed to making the immigration process simpler and faster.
Express Entry allows Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to invite eligible candidates to make an application for permanent residence. Immigrate to Canada through an online three stage electronic immigration process, which was implemented in January 2015, designed to select skilled workers that fall under three different specific Immigration Programs based on their human capital factors, skill, experience and other factors.
All applicants make an expression of interest and are entered into a pool of applications. The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence. Skilled workers are chosen based on their skills and ability to contribute to Canada’s economy.
Candidates who meet the minimum requirements of the following programs can apply with an application to the Express Entry pool under:
•The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
•The Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSW)
•The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST)
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC): The program is designed for the Canada’s Foreign workers who have worked in Canada for at least one year to immigrate permanently.
The Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSW): This program is designed for the skilled workers with high level of Language Proficiency (English or French). The candidates are selected based on their abilities to contribute significantly to Canada’s economy and workforce. Once the applicants meet the eligibility requirements, their profiles are evaluated under the “Point Grid System”.
The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST): The FST Program is designed for the applicants having experience in skilled trade occupations with job offers or appropriate certification to work in certain occupations to obtain Canadian Permanent Residency.
In brief, an applicant must submit an expression of interest under any one of the programs to be placed in the pool against other eligible applicants. Following this, the highest-ranking applicants will be sent an Invitation to Apply [ITA] to apply for Canadian Permanent Residence under any of the above mentioned Canadian Economic Programs. Once an ITA is received, a completed PR application is submitted which take 6 months or more to be processed.
